Birmingham dark rock duo Black Rose Moves return with their most cinematic single yet. “If I Was Here,” out 20 March 2026, fuses haunting melodies, brooding rhythms, and Morrison-esque vocals to explore the ghosts of memory and moments we can’t reclaim.
Building on the momentum of their critically acclaimed debut EP Death Dance (2025), the duo trades the pounding intensity of earlier tracks for a mid-tempo, cinematic soundscape. Multi-instrumentalist Mark Neat layers driving basslines with shimmering, textured guitars, while frontman Grant Leon delivers a soulful, emotionally charged performance. The track crescendos into a desperate chant — “I can’t control this” — capturing the tension at its heart.
“It’s about the ghost of a moment you can’t return to,” Leon explains. “The dance in the song represents connection and escape, but when that’s taken away, you’re left with the echo of it — and the realization that some emotions refuse to be controlled.”
Following praise from outlets including Rolling Stone and the BBC, Black Rose Moves continue to be a rising presence within the Alternative music scene.
